YPP - OVERVIEW
The Young Physicists Panel (YPP) was started at Fermilab by Bonnie Fleming, John Krane, and Sam Zeller in May of 2000. Its general mission was to provide young particle physicists with a forum in which to discuss the future of our field. This culminated in the creation and administration of a "Survey on the Future of HEP". We received over 1500 responses to this survey. The results were presented at a forum and in plenary session at Snowmass. A formal document detailing our findings is currently underway.

After Snowmass, the Young Physicists Panel evolved into a new expanded group called "Young Particle Physicists" (still YPP). We decided to break into a local chapters actively participating in a number of working group activities. This webpage includes useful links, information on upcoming meetings, listings of activities of our working groups as well as information on how to contact us.

Who is a Young Physicist?

We have defined a "young physicist" as anyone who does not currently have tenure or a permanent staff position. Hence, the term "young" refers to your current career stage and not necessarily your age.

Mission Statement:

The general mission of the YPP is to provide young particle physicists with a forum to address the issues important to young physicists. The Young Particle Physicists is built on the heritage of the activities of the original Young Physicists Panel. The YPP shall be a group that is independent of any structures. The YPP shall be established for an indefinite period of time. The YPP actively seeks representation from all geographical areas of the HEP community.
